Self Study 2 -- Bones, Rigging, and Animation
UTAS KIT207 Portfolio » Devlog
Rather than model a human character I experimented with a robot character. I settled on an 80s monitor with arms and legs, the walk cycle for which can be seen below.
When attempting to make the character wave, I found that the way the arms attached to the body made the action look strange. I made the character shoot out of its arm instead (as though it has an arm cannon), and the result can be seen below. The first version of this action had the character stand still and only the arm would move, but this was not very interesting. I made the gun give the illusion of recoil by having the character's body shoot backwards after firing, requiring the character to catch itself with their legs.
